What’s Happening at Verde Chicago?
In a world of diminishing resources, economic struggles, and rising energy costs, Verde Chicago wants to help you. It is often difficult and confusing to know how to “be green”. Almost everyone that we talk with wants to help the environment, but they often don’t know where to start with so much information. While it is not true, people often assume that it costs a lot of money for sustainable behaviors, but Verde Chicago shows this is not true.
Verde Chicago is committed to being one part of the solution to this environmental problem. In fact, it will bring great benefit to our economy if the average household had another $200 a year (average VERDE demonstrated savings) to spend on things more exciting than electricity. Our app demonstrates how your specific household can save energy and money, not just some theoretical average.
As you enter each appliance and lighting in your home into the app, the software automatically calculates how much money you can save compared to the most efficient products on the market.
Verde Chicago plans to build out a platform that changes the way you think about buying new products. When you look at new televisions, we want you to take into consideration the $65 that a new LED LCD could save over your old energy hog television. Trying to decide whether it is worth it or not to buy a new iPad or other tablet? Consider this — an iPad can consume $180 less worth of electricity each year compared to an older desktop computer.
Verde doesn’t want to tell you what to buy – we just want you to be informed on the true cost of appliances and lighting at your home and work. We won’t tell you that you should unplug that hot tub sitting on the back porch, but you should know that it costs $72 in electricity each season. As we partner with more and more retailers, we hope to make energy efficiency a greater priority that people consider when buying new appliances and lighting.
