The fact that Steve has already made a great choice in living in a dense urban neighborhood (that is, he’s already done the “number one thing”) suggests an ambiguity in the discussion, which is the question of what it means to “BE” green. Are we are thinking “soy verde,” I am green, in the sense of a permanent status that can be achieved? Or do we mean “estoy verde,” suggesting something we may or may not be at this time, where greenness might be more about a journey and not a destination? Maybe one of the best things we can do to be green is to revisit the question every 3-4 months, and ask ourselves “What is the number one thing I can do (now) to be Greener?”
